Congratulations to every union member who attended bargaining, took protected action, and encouraged their colleagues to join the union!
Protected Action must now cease.
After 19 months and 117 meetings, union bargaining negotiations with Ambulance Victoria have led to a comprehensive settlement package for staff covered by the Operational Agreement (AVEA2024).
The package includes substantial pay raises for Fleet Maintenance Officers, progression and classification review opportunities for Administrative staff, improvements in End of Shift management, a $12,500 salary increase for MICA Paramedics, and an availability allowance for ACOs.
The AVEA2024 will provide a 4% (3% + 0.5% + 0.5%) annual wage increase to the base rate of pay over the next four years.
What happens next?
Now that an In-Principle Agreement is reached, the unions and Ambulance Victoria will work together to write the final version of the agreement. Once it’s ready, all employees covered by AVEA2024 will get to vote on the new agreement. The drafting should be finished in the next few weeks, and the vote will happen soon after that.
Regardless of when voting occurs, the new agreement will commence on 21st October 2024, with all pay increases backdated to this date.
Congratulations again to everyone who participated in enterprise bargaining and protected action! When we stand together as one, we’re not just improving today—we’re shaping a brighter, fairer future for all.
