10 October 2022

INTRODUCTION

The AEAV notes the announcement by the AV board and Tony Walker that Tony will be standing down as CEO on 23 December 2022.

We acknowledge Tony’s 37 years of dedicated service to the Victorian community and wish him well in his future endeavours.

The AEAV looks forward to working with the new executive team on a brighter and safer Ambulance Victoria for all staff.

ESTA BARGAINING

ESTA has signalled that they wish to discuss the pathway forward to bargaining at the next MOU meeting which is on Thursday 13 October. Delegates met on Tuesday to discuss the AEAV log of claims and bargaining priorities.

If you would like to discuss what you think should be in the Union’s log of claims contact Delegate Sharyne Doensen [email protected] or Organiser Darren Law on 0434 628 877.

ESTA PENALTY PAYMENTS

Do you know if you have received all the penalties you’re entitled to within the new MOU? The union has been pursuing clarification on the extra 10% penalty for the full Friday, Saturday, Sunday shift at ESTA. If you believe you haven’t received all penalties, please contact the Union on 9287 1713 or speak to your local Delegate.

ESTA UCC

The next Union Consultative Committee (UCC) meeting is being held on 27 October. Do you have a workplace issue you would like the Union to raise at the next UCC? Please email Delegate Sharyne Doensen with your issue at [email protected]

AV BARGAINING

It’s time for Union members to start organising what they would like to see within their next Enterprise Bargaining Agreement with Ambulance Victoria.

If you work at AV, take this short survey to let the Union know what you would like to see improved within your workplace through the next round of bargaining!

Have your say HERE.

NPT BARGAINING

There has been a delay in progress of the NPT EB negotiations.

At the last meeting, the Unions presented an agreed improved classification structure for all NPT staff. The delay has been caused through NPT needing to seek guidance from their parent company CDC.

NPT have requested that the next meeting be scheduled for 11 October, at which time they will present their response to the classification proposal and potentially an alternative offer. NPT are on notice that any alternative offers would need to be substantial.

ARE YOU AN ELECTED HSR?

Our next Union HSR course runs 29 November 2022 – 13 December 2022.

Our Union HSR courses are approved by the regulator and elected HSRs have the right to attend that training on paid time, and the employer must pay for the course costs.
Training is held at the AEAV Docklands office.

More information is available HERE, or contact Organiser Jules Gibson on 0422 682 622

RESEARCH SURVEY

Be part of the research of Australian healthcare professionals to reduce stigma, raise awareness of positive conversations about mental health and promote help-seeking behaviour. The results will be anonymous and the deidentified data will be released in October 2022 – in recognition of World Mental Health Day (Monday 10th October 2022).

Take the survey HERE.

SALLY MCMANUS’ SPEECH

“I will use this platform again to thank our frontline and essential workers for continuing to sacrifice so much; but they also deserve much more than thanks…

The instinct to want to work together, to look after each other, act for the greater good and build community is not however, an inevitability.
It can be nurtured, or it can be diminished, and the actions of political leaders can take us one way or the other.”

WELCOME NEW ORGANISER JULES G!

The AEAV welcomes new Organiser Julien Gibson to the team! Jules has climbed the ranks of the union from organising in her workplace in hospitality, to advising members in the UWU Member Rights Center. Jules now joins the Vic ambo team where we know she will flourish. Welcome Jules! We are glad to have you on board.
