Support After First Responder Suicide Study

SAFeRS Study

Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (MESHA), a charity of The Hospital Research Foundation, is conducting an Australian-first study on the supports available to those impacted by the suicide death of an emergency services first responder. The study aims to hear from family members, co-workers, healthcare professionals, and service providers who have been affected by the suicide of a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, correctional officer, or other first responder.

Your participation in this study will provide valuable insights into your experiences accessing or providing support, and help inform the development of better resources for those impacted by such tragic losses.

Who can participate?

  • Family members and co-workers of first responders who have died by suicide.
  • Healthcare professionals and service providers who support these individuals.

What’s involved?

  • Completing an online survey with open-ended questions about your experiences.
  • Optionally, participating in an interview to further describe your experiences.
  • All information provided is strictly confidential.

How to participate: To learn more and complete the online survey, please scan the QR code or visit: https://mesha.limesurvey.net/638473. Recruitment will continue until March 2025.
