AV is undergoing its second wave of restructuring, and some administrative staff have been told they will be redeployed. The redeployment process involves directing staff to a redeployment pool where they can apply for vacancies within the service. The union has sought clarification on whether this pool will also allow staff to be redeployed to other government agencies through the Vic Government’s Jobs and Skills Exchange (JSE).
At the same time, the union has discovered that AV has hired new administrative staff on contract though, interestingly, on the AV portal these roles have been advertised as “Nominal – The employee is the owner of the Position”.
This situation has caused confusion among staff and sets up a concerning precedent for those in the redeployment pool. It is considered best practice for AV to prioritise offering vacancies to staff in the redeployment pool rather than hiring new staff on contract or permanently. The union contacted AV HR for an explanation but, so far, AV has not responded.
