ARO BETWEEN 1400 HRS & 0200HRS AT ESTA
In July 2021, AEAV Delegates requested Operations EMECs formulate an ARO roster to support Ertcomm dispatchers to reduce pressure on TL’s and improve service delivery to AV and the Victorian Community.
Delegates are pleased to report that ESTA have outlined a plan – that when an extra Ertcomm dispatcher is already on shift at THO, WFM will roster that dispatcher as an ARO between 1400hrs and 0200hrs.
Well done Delegates Sharyne Doensen (Tally-Ho) and Roger Parker (BalSECC)!
SURGE SCRIPTS
AEAV was informed that AV have drafted revised surge scripts intended for use in the very near future. ESTA advised that:
- The scripts will differ based on event priority.
- The scripts may also differ based on initial-call versus call-backs.
- The scripts are expected to be triggered by AV Code Green/Orange/Red.
- There could be at least 5 different surge scripts in play (yet to be confirmed).
Delegate Sharyne Doensen raised concern that several different surge scripts could have a further negative impact on the workload for AV call-takers. The initial Surge Script was developed in response to the Royal Commission into Thunderstorm Asthma in 2016 and has since been under-utilised. Delegates are keen see whether the revised scripts will be fit-for-purpose. ESTA have advised that the new scripts should be available in the coming weeks.
