On 31 October 2024, the union wrote to Ambulance Victoria (AV) regarding changes to Service Desk Staff responsibilities, which occurred without formal consultation as required under the Enterprise Agreement. AV responded to the union on 22 November 2024 with the following letter.
AV response to UWU Correspondence – AV Service Desk
In their response, AV failed to acknowledge that Service Desk Staff were taking on additional higher duties. Instead, AV maintained that the work being done was “business as usual.” AV also claimed that Field Services Management was providing guidance and support to staff, though this has not been the experience of the affected workers.
In response, the union sent a follow-up letter to AV to clarify the experiences of Service Desk Staff and to remind AV of the union’s expectations under the Enterprise Agreement.

UWU – Correspondence to Emily Milanos Re Major Change to Service Desk Staff Responsibilities without Formal Consultation – Response
In the letter, the union reaffirmed that AV must ensure formal consultation under Clause 10.2 of the Enterprise Agreement. The union also highlighted the need for appropriate remuneration for higher duties under Clause 46, and called for an assurance that these additional responsibilities are temporary and will not set a precedent for future changes to the scope of Service Desk roles.
