Sexism in the Media Affects All Women’s Jobs

Sometimes it’s hard to believe we’re in 2024 – not 1964.

Just this year, a Victorian MP had her image doctored to show more revealing clothing. Do you remember who she was?

UWU’s latest blog explains how sexism in the media and advertising affects all women’s jobs, our career prospects and safety at work – even if you’re at the top of your game. It’s never good enough.

This year, some brave UWU farms members had to fight management for basic respect and safety from s-xual harassment at work.

Unionists across our movement have fought for a long time for safety and respect at work and now we’ve won strong rights that require employers to prevent and eliminate harassment and discrimination in our workplaces.

Now it’s time to enforce these hard-won rights by speaking out and holding bosses to account.

Find out how sexism in the community affects your safety and security at work, and what you can do to improve your workplace, so it doesn’t become an issue for you.
