Have you previously worked as an ACO before becoming a Paramedic? This could impact how your entitlements are calculated when transitioning to retirement.
If your service as an ACO for Ambulance Victoria (AV) hasn’t had a break of more than 12 weeks, it counts towards your Long Service Leave (LSL) entitlements. However, Ambulance Victoria cannot accurately track staff years of service before the 2008 merger.
This means that anyone who served within the service before 2008 as an ACO is at risk of not being provided their full entitlements when transitioning to retirement. To address this issue, the union recommends members provide AV a Statutory Declaration to confirm their ACO start date and whether they’ve utilised long service leave up to now.
Transitioning to retirement involves a mutual agreement between AV and members on retirement terms and the use of accrued leave.
